Description
Professional Ballast Bags for Precise Weight Placement
Ballast Bags are flexible, permanently sealed weights designed for precise placement in vehicles, equipment, signs, displays, rucksacks and production setups. Each bag is constructed from water-repellent 1000D Cordura® and precision filled with your choice of economical antimicrobial sand or dense steel shot for the same weight in approximately half the size.

Flexible by Design
Ballast Bags are intentionally filled with room for the contents to move inside the shell. This allows each bag to fold, drape and conform around stand feet, crossbars, equipment, vehicle interiors and other irregular surfaces. Unlike tightly packed weight bags that behave like rigid blocks, Ballast Bags settle naturally into place and can be stacked or repositioned as needed.
Professional-Grade Construction
Each Ballast Bag is made from heavy-duty 1000D Cordura® nylon with a water-repellent finish and sealed inner liner. The bag is permanently sewn shut with a double lock-stitched closure to securely contain the fill and eliminate the dust, spills and maintenance associated with field-filled sandbags.
The simple rectangular shape lies flat, stacks neatly and fits into confined spaces more easily than traditional saddle-style sandbags.
Sand or Steel Shot Fill
Choose antimicrobial sand for economical ballast or steel shot when maximum weight is needed in the smallest possible space.
Sand-filled Ballast Bags are ideal for signs, displays, production equipment and other applications where space is readily available. Steel-shot Ballast Bags provide the same weight in approximately half the size, making them especially useful for vehicle testing, engineering, marine applications and confined equipment spaces.
Our steel-filled bags use true steel shot rather than irregular scrap steel punchings, providing a clean and consistent premium fill material.
Accurate, Repeatable Weight
Ballast Bags make it easy to place a known amount of weight exactly where it is needed. Individual bags can be positioned, stacked or combined to create a specific test load, stabilize equipment or adjust weight distribution. Filled 25-pound Ballast Bags are produced to an accuracy of ±2 ounces.
Signs and Displays
Use Ballast Bags to stabilize portable signs, real-estate signs, retail displays and temporary installations. Their flexible shape allows them to drape across ground-level crossbars and frame members, placing the weight directly on the structure being secured.
Marine and Aerospace
Ballast Bags provide compact, repositionable weight for wake boats, vehicle compartments, aircraft testing and other applications where available space and weight distribution matter. Steel-shot fill is especially useful when substantial weight must fit into a small compartment.
AV Production
Ballast Bags help stabilize microphone stands, boom stands, lighting equipment, speakers, props, backdrops and other production gear. The flexible bag can fold over a stand foot or frame member to keep the weight positioned directly on the equipment.
Conventions and Events
Use Ballast Bags on pipe-and-drape base plates, exhibit structures, temporary signs and convention equipment. Their rectangular shape provides a clean appearance while allowing the bags to stack, store and transport efficiently between events.
Rucking and Fitness
Ballast Bags can be placed inside compatible rucksacks and training packs to add controlled resistance for rucking, strength training and conditioning. Their flexible construction allows the bag to settle naturally inside the pack instead of behaving like a rigid metal weight.
Engineering and Testing
Ballast Bags are well suited for driver-weight simulation, vehicle development, product testing, load distribution and other applications requiring repeatable weight placement. Multiple bags can be combined to create a specific test load and quickly repositioned as testing requirements change.
Water-Repellent Outer Shell
The water-repellent Cordura® outer shell causes light moisture to bead and run off rather than immediately soaking into the fabric. The durable surface can be wiped clean after routine use, while the sealed inner liner helps contain the fill and control dust.
Ready to Use
Every filled Ballast Bag arrives ready to use and is permanently sewn shut. There is no sand to purchase, no bag to fill and no closure to tie. Ballast Bags are made in the USA and ship free to all 50 states.
